Speeding Fine or Speeding Ticket? Advice that can prevent penalty points and keep you driving from Motoring Lawyer DirectDrink Driving? Advice that can save your licence from Motoring Lawyer Direct.

It is vital to contact us NOW about any speeding fines, speeding tickets, drink driving, penalty points, or threat of a driving ban you may have received so that they have minimal chance to rectify any mistakes they may have made along the way.

We are not, of course, assuming that you will definitely instruct us to represent you. Right now, your main concern must be to discover whether or not you have a viable defence and/or what your next steps should be to defend your driving ban, drink driving, speeding fines or speeding tickets .

Much of our work involves discovering, dealing with and utilising technical and legal points on behalf of our clients as well as, in appropriate cases, persuading a court that they should not disqualify in circumstances whereby they otherwise would. And whilst it is not always possible to achieve a full acquittal or totally avoid disqualification for say speeding offences or for drink driving, we are determined in our advocacy and will fearlessly 'fight the motorist's corner' to get an optimal result.

It is fairly well publicised that, for instance, speeding offences 'loopholes' can, if discovered and used, result in an acquittal on a speeding charge and preventing speeding points. However, other defences also exist both in relation to speeding as well as in other areas of traffic offence law, such as Drink Driving. However, even where a full acquittal is not viable, we pride ourselves on our skills in mitigating the effects of an offence so as to reduce the fine, number of penalty points or disqualification.

Penalty Points & Speeding Fines

The Penalty Points system is a rule which allows the UK driver licensing authority to hand out or issue demerits (or points) to drivers following the conviction relating to road traffic offenses. Penalty Points can be added or subtracted to a drivers licence depending on the system. As a general rule, the more serious the offense the more penalty points you will receive. In some cases one offence may lead to more than the maximum allowed penalty points being issued, but more often than not it is the accumulation of too many penalty points over a given period or time which leads to the suspension or revocation of the driver's license.

If you can find fault with the ticket, we may be able to help you avoid paying any speeding fines. There are many faults you could find with the ticket, including an incorrect description of your car, the wrong number plate, if the actual speed limit was included and is correct. These are just a few of the reason a speeding ticket may be invalid but there are many more reasons why you can get out of a speeding fine. And don't forget that it costs nothing to submit the form and have an initial chat with us.

Speeding Points

The endorsement of Speeding Points on the licence is obviously one of the usual penalties for speeding offences. However, the number of speeding points varies depending upon the severity of the alleged speeding contravention and whether you are offered a fixed penalty. So whilst you may have a Speeding Fine and charged with exceeding a 30 mile per hour speed limit, if you admit the offence or the Speeding Fines and Points prosecution prove it against you beyond reasonable doubt, you could receive 3 Penalty Points but may instead receive, say, 6 Penalty Points or even a driving ban for that one offence. The Magistrates Court takes its guidance as to what is the appropriate level of speeding points to impose from its sentencing guidelines.

One of the most common penalty point questions is:
'How many speeding points can I have before I get disqualified?'
With a full Uk driving licence you can accumulate up to 12 penalty points on your licence before you get can disqualified under the totting-up procedure. Penalty points can be issued for a wide range of driving or speeding offences. The points remain on your driving licence for 3 years from the offence date before they are removed.

The totting up procedure is the system where the penalty points are added up and if they total 12 or more, you will be disqualified for a minimum of 6 months but this can be a year or two years (minimum) depending on your driving record..
